Our Themes are our way of teaching Science and Social Studies throughout the year. Each week we will focus on a theme for the week. About 30 minutes a day is focused on for theme time instruction. However, I try to incorperate it throughout the day when I can such as during a writing activity, vocabulary words, and books. I read at least one book a day pertaining to the theme and I pick out one vocabulary word from the book for us to focus on throughout the day. The students have to listen for the word as I read the book and will be assigned some type of action to do once they hear the word. They are also incouraged to use the word when they can during the week. In order to help remind the students and myself what our word is for the day, I wear it on my apron with a picture showing what the word means. I also make our Centers theme related. This page is going to take some time to create. There will be a weekly add-on as we go through our themes. Click on the links below to view our theme activities.
