Busy Bees Love To Read
We have small leveled reading group instruction in our classroom. The class is divided into 4 groups. The groups average at about 6 or 7 in a group. Mrs. Smith and I do small group reading instruction using leveled readers for 30 minutes a day. The other 30 minutes during the reading hour, Mrs. Story works with Hot Dots and other reading or phonics skills.

Before the students begin their leveled readers, we work on cut a-part stories. These help teach the good reader rules along with concept of print.

I use a lot of graphic organizers during my reading group so that my students will have a better understanding of the story.

This student is using one of his good reader skills by pointing his finger as he reads!

We use our letter tiles to form our sight words throughout the year.

We focus a lot on word families during our reading group.

This is Mrs. Morlan's 2005-2006 kindergarten class singing "Red" for your listening pleasure!
