Saxon Phonics
Saxon phonics is our main source of teaching phonics. We spend 30 minutes a day doing our Saxon phonics lesson. The first part is verbal interaction which is followed daily by a worksheet.

The students in the picture above are touching their toes everytime they say a vowel while reciting the alphabet. These students in this picture are holding their hands in the air each time they hear the /W/ sound in a word.

Mrs. Fulmer comes in our classroom (along with several other guest students) for the first hour of the day while we do our phonics and writing lessons. Mrs. Fulmer and I are collaborating during this time. We are like an educational tag team!!!!!!!

Word Wall
We use our Word Wall to teach other phonics and reading skills throughout the year. Each week we learn 4 new sight words. These words are placed on our Word Wall for words games and for us to use as a resource when we write.

Mrs. Sound Muncher
Mrs. Sound Muncher eats items that begin with the letter of the week. We focus on one letter a week. The students have a great time feeding Mrs. Sound Mucher!
We were focusing on the letter Qq so this student brought a rock with quartz on it for Mrs. Sound Muncher.

Morning Message

Mrs. Fulmer is seen here conducting our Morning Message. Each morning the students have a message that we read together. We then focus on concept of print and phonics skills as we look at the items in the message.
