Land and Water
We spend a week discussing different types of land and water forms. We learn about mountains, hills, farmland, rivers, oceans, and lakes. We discover that the world is made up of more water than land. We also learn to identify the water and land on a map and globe.
We read the book: "A Trip Across the Country" and focus on the different land and water forms from the book.
The activity below is done in order to help us understand the forms of land.

We make books focusing on "up and down." Each student has a cut out person and acts out the story as we read it together.

Reading Groups:
The pictures below show a reading group working on a cut apart story. The title is "My Hh Book." The story contains items beginning with the letter Hh. We start off by creating our story on chart paper. Each student is given a picture and creats a sentence to go with his/her picture. Then the students take turns reading their sentence.

The second day in reading group, we place sentence strips in order to create our story.

The third day of our cut apart story, I cut the words apart and spread them all out on the table. We put the story puzzle together!

We write one sentence a day in our cut apart books. We use our magic spacers to make sure we have a space between our words.

The picture below shows a group playing letter concentration.

The student below is creating a hat because the letter of the week is Hh.

The student below is searching for items that begin with Hh to glue to a house.
