Buzzy Bee

Buzzy is our class mascot.  He is always searching for boys and girls who follow the rules and directions.  When he finds

students doing the right thing, he lands near them to show the students how proud he is of them!  He also buzzes when he

sees the entire class doing a great job!  Buzzy is going on an adventure this school year.  He is going to fly to 8

other classrooms around the United States!  He is so excited!  We will certainly miss Buzzy.  However, we are excited

because while Buzzy is gone, we are going to have other mascots visit our class.  Buzzy will return to us in May with his

journal notebook full of information and photos.  We will have so much fun reading and looking through the photos as we

learn more about other states and schools.  The map below shows Buzzy's route.  He will leave Georgia and travel to

Florida.  His last stop before he returns home will be in New York!

The adventure will be fun for Buzzy and our class as we receive emails and photos from around the United States!

On Friday, September 14th, Mrs. Morlan placed Buzzy in a box

with his journal notebook, book on bees, books on Georgia, peanut

treats, and peach treats.  She mailed him off to Clearwater, Florida

to visit his first class!  The class was sad to see Buzzy go.

Curious George Arrives!!!!!!!

Tuesday, September 18th: A box arrived for Mrs. Morlan's class!

  The class was soooooo excited!

The box was from Miss. Millers's 2nd grade class in New York!

  Mrs. Morlan opened the box!

The box contained Curious George wrapped in his

blanket, his bookbag, a journal, a book on New York, and a book about George!

George was so cute and cozy all wrapped up!

We enjoyed looking through George's journal!

We passed George around for everyone to visit with him.  The students even had to check out his toes!

Wednesday, September 20th:

George helped the class make a graph using pattern blocks.  He then visited the students as they worked at their table to make sure

they were doing good on their work.

Thursday, September 21st:

George enjoyed writing time with the students.  The students were working in groups of two.  They were writing sentences showing how

the two students are alike and different.

Friday, September 22nd:

George and the students were excited it was Friday!  Of course, Mrs. Morlan and Mrs. Shelton were really excited!  George had a lot

of fun working with different students at centers.

Saturday, September 22nd:

Curious George visited Columbia, South Carolina with Mr. Morlan.  He attended drill at Pruitt Hall and was monkeying around the

sign!  Mr. Morlan is the Band Commander for the 246th Army National Guard Band.  George is pictured below with Mr. Morlan

and some other new friends he made!  He had loads of fun and decided that he would like to play the drums!
